Diane Evans has a background in human resource management. With her work experience she thought she was ready for any curve balls motherhood could serve – after all she was used to dealing with conflict, chaos and the odd tantrum!
Diane quickly realised that being a mum has its own unique set of uplifting experiences and challenges and the old adage that “nothing can prepare you” was true.
The roller-coaster ride of juggling full time work, part time work and now her own consulting business whilst raising three small children inspired her to compile a book of stories so mothers could share others’ insights and experiences.
Diane and her husband, Barry, live in Brisbane with their three beautiful children, Alannah (six), Kyle (four) and Blake (two). Life is always interesting, as they strive to find the right work and family balance for their family.
Sharon Evans enjoys a hectic work and social life in new product brand development. She has her own business with partner, Denny, and is new to the career/mum juggling act. When her daughter Ziggi was just 8 weeks old, they packed bags and passports and headed overseas on the first of numerous work trips.
The realisation that at 35 she was one of the youngest in her mothers’ group reaffirmed that there where loads of mums confused about how this career/mother thing worked, and age didn’t provide super mum powers.
For Sharon, the opportunity to work with her sister Diane on compiling Mother Who? has been both wonderful and reassuring. The fact that Sharon, Denny and Ziggi are not alone makes the journey a little less scary. If not always clearer.
