Barnardos Vision
“All children and young people will have loving families in which they can grow safely and fulfil their potential. Families and young people will be valued and supported by quality services and engaged communities.”
Barnardos Australia builds relationships between children, young people, families and the community. By advocating for the rights and dignity of Australian children and young people, Barnardos works to strengthen support and knowledge for issues facing these innocent victims within the community.
Barnardos is a non-government, non-denominational welfare organisation, and has been helping children in Australia for over a century. Children of all backgrounds and cultural heritage are helped through over 60 welfare programs operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout Australia. This integrated range of programs includes family support, streetwork, emergency accommodation, mentoring, disability support, foster care and adoption programs.
Ongoing support from the community allows for Barnardos to remain a strong and independent voice and advocate for severely disadvantaged children in Australia.
90 cents in every dollar raised goes directly towards helping abused and neglected children in Australia. Barnardos has established a number of centres in areas of greatest need.

Barnardos Mother of the Year Awards
Each year, Barnardos recognises and rewards the importance of excellent parenting, through Barnardos Australia’s Mother of the Year Awards.
Launched in 1996 the Awards aim to recognise the enormous contribution that mothers make in shaping Australia's future, especially through their role in the nurturing of children.
The awards are not for high profile mums, but average Australians who display the special qualities that are shared by all great Aussie mothers. The Awards grow each year, as Barnardos continue to uncover mothers whose achievements truly inspire the rest of the nation.
